Frequently Asked Questions

Homes need repainting about every 5-10 years, on average. Stained homes last around 4-7 years. Decks average closer to 10 years when covered with a “solid stain” (similar to paint, but hardier), however a traditional stain (semi-transparent) only lasts 2-3 years.

This can vary a lot due to sunlight exposure (and the quality of paints used), however it is best to not wait more than 10 years. Paint begins to lose integrity over time and eventually regular wear-and-tear, grease, and sun damage cause discoloration and failure of the paint (chipping, cracking, etc).

Lead is particularly dangerous during pregnancy and infancy, however no humans/animals are immune to the impacts of lead exposure. Please inquire with us about any questions you have related to lead-oriented procedures.
